Zach Arnett Named Head Coach of Mississippi State Football
Former Defensive Coordinator Promoted to Lead Bulldogs
Zach Arnett, a proven leader for the Mississippi State football program throughout his tenure in Starkville, has been named the Bulldogs' 35th head football coach.
The announcement was made Thursday morning by interim Director of Athletics Bracky Brett and President Mark Keenum.
Arnett has been promoted to the full-time coach at Mississippi State, the university announced Thursday. According to 247Sports, it was the longest contract ever given to a coordinator at the school. He's set to receive another sizable pay bump with his elevation to head coach.
Arnett reportedly received a three-year contract worth $39 million. The deal will pay him $12 million in 2022, with a $100,000 raise each successive year.
Arnett compiled a 4-6 record (1-6 SEC) in the 2023 season through 10 games in his first year as head coach.
Mississippi State relieved head football coach Zach Arnett of his duties Monday morning.
Arnett led Mississippi State to a 19-10 win over Illinois in the ReliaQuest Bowl in his first game as head coach.
